There are two ways to setup Microsoft Authenticator as Multifactor Authentication for Office 365 account. Please choose one or the other from the below options depending on your needs.
- Sign-in into your Office 365 account for the first time or,
- If you already signed-in into your Office 365 account but, you need to reconfigure Microsoft Authenticator on your new/current device with Microsoft Office 365.
1. Sing-in into your Office account for the first time.
When signing into Microsoft Office 365 for the first time.
- Using your favorite web browser, please go to Office.com
- Type your username
- Type your password
- On more information required, click on next
- If you haven't already, please download the Microsoft Authenticator app to your Smartphone
- On the Keep your account secure modal, click on next
- Once Microsoft Authenticator is installed in your phone, launch the app, locate the plus sign and tap on it to add an account or, click on the Add account button.
- Tap on Work or school account.
- Tap on Scan QR code.
- You will be prompted to allow access to your camera, tap on allow, then point your smartphone to your computer screen.
- Back to the laptop screen, at the QR code page, click Next
- On the laptop screen, you will see a number, like the one below.
- You will receive a push notification to type the number shown on the computer screen.
- Back to the computer screen, notice the approve notification, click Next
- Click on Done.
2. If you already signed-in into your Office 365 account but, you need to reconfigure Microsoft Authenticator with your new/current device with Microsoft Office 365.
- Go to mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info.
- Sign into Microsoft Office 365.
- Click on Add Sign-in method.
- Click on the Microsoft Authenticator.
- On section 1. Sign-in into your Office account for the first time of this article follow the steps 5 through 15.
